Cambodia and Thailand Agree to Immediate Ceasefire at 00:00 29th July 2025 and Establish Peace Framework at Malaysia-Hosted Special Meeting
The Governments of Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand, with support from the United States and the People’s Republic of China, convened a Special Meeting chaired by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, alongside Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai.
The meeting achieved a common understanding to:
- Enforce an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, effective 28 July 2025 at 24:00 (local time).
- Hold a regional military meeting on 29 July 2025 at 07:00, followed by a meeting of Defence Attachés if mutually agreed.
- Convene a General Border Committee (GBC) meeting hosted by Cambodia on 4 August 2025.
Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair, will coordinate with Member States to dispatch an observer team for ceasefire verification. Direct communication between leaders and ministers of both countries will resume immediately.
Foreign and Defence Ministers from the three nations will develop a mechanism for implementation, verification, and reporting, ensuring transparency and lasting peace.
All parties reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue, regional stability, international law, and peaceful resolution.
